What is CVV2 / CVC2 / CID?

It is the last 3 or 4 numbers in the signature strip on the back of the card. See these two examples;
  It may follow your full 16 digit account number, or it may follow the last 4 digits of your account number.

In these examples, the CVV2 is highligted in red. It will not be red on your card.

The CVV2 (Visa), CVC2 (MasterCard) field is used to verify that you have possession of the credit card you are attempting to use. This is a new way the credit card companies are trying to reduce fraud.

You can find it on the back of your credit card in the signature panel. It may follow your full 16 digit account number, or it may follow the last 4 digits of your account number.
